Job Overview
The Data Analyst I or II will support the CASI Research Administrative Manager, CASI Center Director, and Division Leadership by conducting observational data analyses, working with raw data from diverse sources like administrative claims and electronic health records, and handling large longitudinal datasets. The role demands strong analytical and methodological proficiency and excellent communication skills, with a focus on enhancing care for older adults and patients with serious illness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Extract and interpret data to resolve operational and business challenges by preparing, modeling, analyzing, and visualizing data.
- Collect, analyze, and report data to inform decisions related to daily operations, strategic initiatives, and performance assessments.
- Manage data quality assurance to ensure accuracy, reliability, and validity of all analyses and reports.
- Perform data validation from source to final dashboards and data visuals.
- Collaborate with CASI and the Division on program evaluation, statistical analyses, report creation, database development, software programming, data management, and dashboard design.
- Work independently with large datasets such as national surveys, electronic health records (EPIC), and administrative claims, using SAS or other tools to clean, build analytic datasets, and perform statistical analysis.
- Translate evaluation questions into detailed analytic plans and extract required raw data from various data sources, including medical claims data.
- Apply rigorous statistical testing and data comparison techniques to draw valid conclusions.
- Contribute to healthcare delivery model evaluation, scientific discovery, and continuous learning of advanced methodological approaches.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in analysis or related field required; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience in healthcare bioinformatics and/or statistical data analysis.
- Experience may substitute for formal degree requirements.
- Preferable knowledge of healthcare, particularly electronic medical record data, is an advantage.
- Proficiency with relational databases, SQL, Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, and data visualization.
- Familiarity with statistical analyses including variance and significance testing.
- Project management experience is beneficial.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, both written and spoken, combined with analytical and data management skills especially related to clinical and biostatistical analyses.
- Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skill, meticulous attention to detail, and software proficiency.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and curious to learn new techniques.
- Experience programming in SAS or other analytical software; openness to learning additional languages as needed.
- Basic understanding of statistical testing and multivariate models used in biostatistics/epidemiology (e.g., logistic regression, linear regression, longitudinal models).
- Experience processing and analyzing administrative healthcare data such as Medicare/Medicaid claims and electronic medical records (EPIC) is preferred.
- Knowledge of hospital, state, and federal regulations including HIPAA and adherence to institutional codes of conduct and policies.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- Dynamic healthcare administration environment with typical working hours Monday to Friday during daytime, with flexibility required for occasional evenings or weekends based on event demands.
- Work location is hybrid with presence at 1620 Tremont Street, Boston, MA.
- Standard 40 hours per week.
Compensation and Additional Information
- Annual salary range: $63,648 to $92,570.
- Employment is regular, full-time with grade 6 classification.
- Compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
