It is now looking for a Cyber Security Advisor to support its work in Australia.
Role overview
The Cyber Security Advisor will help protect client digital environments by spotting and reducing security risks, supporting compliance with Australian requirements, and responding to security incidents. The position also contributes to the creation and rollout of security strategies, policies, and procedures that follow accepted industry standards and best practice.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out risk reviews, support compliance with Australian cybersecurity laws and standards such as the Privacy Act, ASD Essential 8, and ISO 27001, and help manage third-party security risk and internal governance activities.
- Track security alerts, coordinate incident response, investigate suspicious activity, and work to reduce impact on client operations while ensuring issues are resolved quickly.
- Create and apply cybersecurity policies, provide security awareness training for staff and clients, and encourage shared accountability for protecting information.
- Find vulnerabilities, oversee patching activities, and advise on secure infrastructure design aligned with Australian cybersecurity expectations.
- Build and keep up business continuity and disaster recovery plans, partner with internal teams, and produce clear security reports for clients and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong cybersecurity experience with working knowledge of Australian regulations and frameworks, including the Privacy Act and ASD Essential 8.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are desirable.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies like SIEM, firewalls, cloud security tools, and vulnerability management.
- Ability to evaluate security risks and respond effectively to incidents.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical security issues to non-technical audiences.
- Well-organised, detail-focused, and careful in applying security controls and processes.
- Willingness to stay current with cybersecurity developments and continue pursuing relevant certifications.
- Familiarity with Australian cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory expectations.
- NV1 Security Clearance is required.
- A valid Vulnerable People Check / Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Police Check are required.
