About The Role
Join Townsville City Council as a Wastewater Treatment Operator where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding public health and protecting the environment through the safe and efficient running of multiple wastewater treatment plants. This position involves overseeing treatment procedures, conducting maintenance and operational duties, performing testing and reporting, and ensuring environmental compliance while contributing to service excellence. The role offers technical variety, challenges, and teamwork opportunities delivering essential community services.
About You
You are a dependable, safety-conscious operator with prior experience in wastewater treatment or a similar process-oriented environment. Your strengths include problem-solving, a solid grasp of treatment processes and regulatory standards, and the capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively. You communicate effectively and pursue ongoing improvement, maintaining high operational standards that support community health and sustainability.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience managing wastewater treatment or similar industrial/process plants.
- Possession of a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater Treatment) or analogous qualifications/experience.
- Competence in monitoring plant systems, interpreting data, and troubleshooting operational problems.
- A strong focus on workplace safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call schedule and operate across various plant locations.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
Additional Information
This position is permanent full-time, with a nine-day fortnight schedule totaling 38 hours per week. The salary is within the $107,609 to $117,294 range annually, plus superannuation.
