Our Trust, Safety & Risk Operations teams at OpenAI play a vital role in protecting our products, user community, and the organization from abuse, fraudulent activities, scams, regulatory challenges, and emerging risks. We function at the crossroads of operations, compliance, user safety, and trust, collaborating closely with Legal, Policy, Engineering, Product, Go-To-Market, and external partners to maintain safe, compliant, and reliable platforms for a diverse global audience.

Role Overview

The Global Safety Response Operations group operates around the clock to address user safety, risk, and regulatory escalations within OpenAI's products. This team manages the most critical cases demanding human judgment and immediate attention, serving as the central point for escalations and delivering safety operations that ensure products meet policy standards while offering empathetic and consistent support to users. This position requires managing weekend shifts within a 5-day workweek schedule, typically covering Saturday through Wednesday.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and resolve urgent, high-priority cases involving harm and risk, ensuring compliance with policy and legal obligations.
• Utilize multiple platforms to handle user reports, internal escalations, and critical investigations effectively.
• Serve as incident manager for cases demanding nuanced interpretations of policy, legal, or regulatory matters.
• Identify, design, and execute process enhancements and automation to boost operational efficiency and accuracy.
• Perform quality audits and deliver feedback aimed at improving consistency across global teams.
• Analyze data trends from escalations and cases to advise on policy updates, product adaptations, model behavior, or detection enhancements.
• Maintain excellent accuracy, judgment, and composure, especially during sensitive or urgent situations.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call schedule, including off-hours and weekend responsibilities.

Candidate Profile

• Possess at least five years of experience in trust and safety, content moderation, investigations, fraud prevention, or developer risk operations.
• Background in incident response, law enforcement liaison, or escalation management is highly desirable.
• Experience leveraging AI technology to enhance operational workflows and decision-making capabilities.
• Deep expertise in a relevant specialization and a solid understanding of applicable legal, policy, and technical frameworks.
• A proven history of scaling operational processes and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve improved safety and performance outcomes.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to discern patterns, evaluate risks, and propose policy or product modifications based on data.
• Excellent communication skills characterized by clarity, empathy, and precision, especially in delicate, user-centered interactions.
• Adaptability to work independently in ambiguous environments and balance fast-paced decision making with thoroughness.
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and rapidly switching contexts while prioritizing impactful tasks.

Additional Role Details

This role requires being part of a hybrid model with expectation of working three days a week onsite in the Singapore office, with relocation support provided for eligible new hires.
