About the Role
The Financial Crime Intelligence Analyst contributes to TSB's AML/CFT, transaction monitoring, and fraud efforts by performing intelligence gathering, strategic improvements, and data-driven analysis utilizing specialized expertise. This role is crucial in refining transaction monitoring tactics, adjusting rule parameters, validating models, and driving continuous enhancement of financial crime prevention measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop intelligence outputs such as tactical alerts, theme reports, and strategic briefing documents for senior leadership and operational teams.
- Produce detailed reports, briefing papers, and governance documentation that clearly convey analysis, key performance indicators, and risk metrics into actionable suggestions.
- Critically evaluate and review analytical approaches, underlying assumptions, and results, collaborating closely with analytics professionals.
Candidate Profile
Successful applicants will have a strong foundation in intelligence, analytical thinking, and research. They will handle complex data to detect patterns, risks, and emerging concerns, converting findings into pragmatic business advice.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational capabilities are essential to work effectively alongside teams in Financial Crime, Fraud, Risk, Compliance, Data & AI, and Technology sectors to boost monitoring performance and ensure compliance with regulations.
The role demands the capability to apply data and intelligence insights to detect, observe, and report on new threats, control weaknesses, and prospects for ongoing development.
Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification in disciplines such as Business, Criminology, Law, Finance, Intelligence, Risk Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience relating to AML/CFT, transaction monitoring, fraud, financial crime intelligence, or risk management fields.
- A thorough understanding of financial crime risks, regulatory AML/CFT requirements, transaction monitoring frameworks, and fraud patterns.

Additional Information
Locations for this permanent, full-time position include New Plymouth, Auckland, or Wellington.
