Role Summary
The Team Member in Airside Operations plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth and safe functioning of airside activities at the airport. This position entails coordinating aircraft movements, managing ground support equipment, maintaining safety compliance, supporting emergency response efforts, and collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the guidance of aircraft between gates, taxiways, and runways, ensuring adherence to air traffic control directives.
- Monitor aircraft locations and maintain clear communication with pilots and ground personnel to quickly resolve issues.
- Assist in scheduling and overseeing regular maintenance for ground support equipment (e.g., tugs, baggage carts, refuelling vehicles).
- Manage the availability and readiness of essential equipment to support aircraft operations effectively.
- Participate in safety audits, enforce safety protocols, and assist in delivering safety training to team members.
- Observe airside operations vigilantly to detect hazards and take corrective action promptly.
- Help develop and implement emergency response strategies, conduct drills, and coordinate with emergency services.
- Support evacuation procedures and provide assistance during emergency situations.
- Coordinate routine inspections and repairs of runways and taxiways, ensuring surfaces remain hazard-free and compliant with safety standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to maintain operational integrity of airside surfaces.
Stakeholder Interaction
This role requires frequent collaboration with internal teams such as Duty Managers, Air Traffic Control, Ground Handling, Terminal Operations, Security, Maintenance, Customer Service, IT, Safety & Compliance, and Marketing departments. Externally, coordination with airlines, regulatory bodies, ground service providers, emergency services, passengers, cargo operators, fuel suppliers, and contractors is essential.
Qualification and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, or related area.
- Have 2 to 3 years of experience in airside or ground operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
