Position Overview

As a Stockperson/Cartpusher at Walmart Canada based in Merritt, British Columbia, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, organized, and inviting shopping environment. Your main task will be to collect shopping carts from various locations such as cart corrals, parking lots, and store perimeters, returning them to designated areas using approved Walmart procedures. You will also engage in friendly customer interactions and prioritize safety, contributing to efficient store operations and gaining valuable retail, customer service, and teamwork skills.

Key Duties

• Collect carts from cart corrals, parking lots, and store boundaries and return them safely to their designated storage following Walmart’s guidelines, ensuring accurate logging of activities.
• Provide prompt assistance in response to requests from registers and Customer Service, including helping customers with items and verifying purchase receipts when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and perform light maintenance duties such as cleaning restrooms, adhering strictly to safety protocols for chemical handling and equipment operation, and conducting mandatory equipment inspections before use.
• Follow established safety standards and protocols including hazardous communication, lockout/tagout procedures, and handling of bloodborne pathogens to support secure environments for customers and colleagues.
• Use required personal protective equipment such as steel-toe footwear and reflective vests, conduct safety checks, and comply with company policies to ensure a hazard-free workplace.
• Work flexibly across different shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs and maintain smooth store functioning.

Challenges

• Manage high task volumes efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during overnight shifts, by maintaining energy and focus throughout work periods.
• Handle physical demands including prolonged standing, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and sometimes up to 50 lbs.
• Complete repetitive job functions such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products meticulously to meet store standards consistently.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $18.40 CAD.
