Job description
Overview
This position involves overseeing the robust operations, maintenance, and safety protocols of a Tier-IV fault-tolerant, enterprise-grade data center as well as an associated training institute. The Safety & Security Officer is tasked with administering critical infrastructure management with a strong emphasis on adhering to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in compliance with international data center benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities & Experience
- Manage data center operation and maintenance, including facility management and vendor/contractor/OEM contract administration.
- Apply extensive knowledge of safety regulations, emergency procedures, hazard analysis, and maintenance best practices within critical infrastructure settings.
- Oversee the integrity and functionality of civil, electrical, HVAC, LAN, safety, and security system components across a large-scale data center environment.
- Manage multiple tasks efficiently while coordinating with vendors and supervising junior staff.
- Ensure all security approval, accreditation, and certification processes are properly supported and executed.
Qualifications and Skills
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including at least 6 years in data center operations and maintenance and facility management.
- 5 to 7 years of dedicated experience in health, safety, and environment practices, with a minimum of 3 years in data center or critical infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in industrial safety methodologies such as lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA compliance, and regional regulatory standards.
- Technical expertise in high-tension and low-tension switchgears, diesel generators, HVAC mechanical systems, and fire safety technologies.
- Familiarity with national and international safety codes, standards, and emergency response protocols.
- Experience with physical security technologies including access control, surveillance, and biometric systems.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, alongside strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite and skilled in preparing safety reports, documentation, and management information systems (MIS) reports.
