Opportunity Overview
Join Christchurch City Council as a Procurement and Contracts Lead contributing to the substantial $3 billion Three Waters capital initiative, which supports vital wastewater, stormwater, and water supply infrastructure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct end-to-end sourcing projects from initial planning to contract awarding and completion.
- Support capital delivery efforts by implementing efficient and scalable procurement methods.
- Offer expert guidance on contract management, risk mitigation, and overseeing supplier performance.
- Develop and refine procurement strategies that benefit the entire programme beyond individual projects.
- Forge strong connections with internal teams and supplier networks to foster collaboration.
- Continuously identify and introduce process enhancements to improve procurement efficiency and delivery.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned procurement professional with extensive strategic procurement knowledge and enjoys working on large, complex programmes. They challenge existing procedures constructively, foster collaborative relationships, and focus on delivering meaningful community value.
- A minimum of seven years in strategic procurement within a complex organisational setting.
- Proficiency in full lifecycle sourcing including tendering, evaluation, and contract formulation.
- Comprehensive understanding of contract law and procurement standards.
- Preferably experienced in capital works, infrastructure projects, or programme-based delivery.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, capable of influencing and advising effectively.
- Possess solid commercial acumen, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability and resilience in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
