Job description
Overview
Merlin Plastics Group, a processor of post-consumer and post-industrial plastics, seeks a full-time Sorter to join their team in New Westminster, BC. The company is committed to environmentally responsible and economically efficient recycling services within the packaging industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrive punctually and adhere to assigned shift schedules.
- Operate and maintain equipment by following standard operating procedures.
- Inspect and categorize incoming materials by type, size, and color for sorting purposes.
- Remove contamination from the sorting conveyor and divert it as needed.
- Sustain a sorting pace of about 70–80 items per minute.
- Identify and extract large or unauthorized items such as suitcases, boards, chairs, or balls and notify the Lead Hand.
- Perform regular cleaning of the conveyor and adjacent work areas, including sweeping, wiping, and shoveling.
- Promptly report any equipment issues or damages.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment and comply with safety protocols.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Schedule and Location
- Standard workweek Monday to Friday, with additional weekend shifts when required.
