Job description

Role Overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated General Maintenance Operative to undertake repairs and preventive upkeep across various company properties nationwide. This role focuses on maintaining self-storage units, office buildings, and retail areas to the highest standards within a leading private self-storage firm noted for its growth and expansion plans.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Annual salary ranging from £30,000 to £35,000
  • Standard working hours: 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, 08:00 to 16:30

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs on buildings including roofing and cladding tasks
  • Conduct plumbing services and maintenance
  • Handle joinery tasks and related woodwork
  • Execute tiling, painting, decorating, and carpeting duties
  • Manage paving, drainage, grounds upkeep, and clearing activities
  • Perform pressure washing on site areas
  • Assemble and remove furniture as required

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • At least three years' experience in building trade or property maintenance
  • Preferred two years' expertise in roofing and cladding
  • IPAF licence is advantageous
  • Must hold a full UK driving license
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings
  • Excellent organizational capabilities to meet company KPIs and SLAs on task completion
  • Proficient with IT systems for logging work activities and related spending
  • Strong command of health and safety standards, risk detection, and onsite assessments
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate smoothly and reduce operational disruptions
