Job description
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Finance & Governance Division based in Geelong, Victoria. Reporting directly to the Payroll Lead, your responsibilities will include managing the entire payroll process, addressing complex reconciliations, ensuring compliance with legislation and enterprise agreements, and managing executive remuneration. This role demands meticulous accuracy, timely payroll processing, and a proactive approach to continual process enhancement, while offering expert support and guidance within the payroll team.
Collaboration and Teamwork
You will work closely with the People, Culture and Engagement team to maintain streamlined internal payroll processes. Handling employee queries compassionately and insightfully is key to supporting our workforce effectively. The role requires adaptability, a precise mindset, and a strong team-oriented attitude within a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation.
About the Team
The Finance & Governance Division fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You will be part of a team of four professionals dedicated to achieving a high-performance culture aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals, while partnering closely with People, Culture and Engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll operations including complex reconciliations and executive remuneration.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
- Conduct thorough payroll audits to maintain reliability and regulatory adherence.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing comprehensive payroll processes, with knowledge of relevant legislation and agreements.
- Proficiency with payroll software, preferably Aurion, and intermediate Excel skills for data extraction and reporting.
- Keen attention to detail for accurate auditing, interpretation of agreements, and resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Strong leadership skills including mentoring team members, fostering continuous improvements, and delivering expert payroll policy guidance.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills combined with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly and respond professionally to employee inquiries.
Work Conditions and Benefits
This is a full-time permanent position based at our Geelong office, with flexible hybrid working options. A competitive starting base salary of $93,500 per year plus superannuation and benefits is offered.
