IT Support Engineer - Pacific Plant, Hastings

About the Role

This position is vital in delivering IT support services at Silver Fern Farms' Pacific plant in Hastings. The IT Support Engineer will manage and assist with hardware, software applications, production site systems, CCTV, security systems, telephony, and networking infrastructure. Serving as the primary point of IT contact on-site, the role ensures prompt resolution of issues and high-quality user assistance. Additionally, the engineer will help support Operational Technology (OT) systems critical to production processes, collaborating closely with site engineers and operational teams.

This is a hands-on support role requiring engagement with both office staff and manufacturing personnel, including presence on the processing floor. Responsibilities also encompass contributing to IT projects, user training, and participation in an on-call support rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination for desktops, servers, and peripherals.
• Perform installation and upgrades of hardware and software, including backups and configuration of systems, networks, applications, and OT equipment.
• Proactively interact with end users to promptly resolve support requests and enhance their technology experience.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts to elevate IT service delivery standards at the site.
• Offer fault diagnosis and technical resolution for IT systems, hardware, and services used across the Pacific facility.
• Assist with deployment and support of local and national IT projects.

• Proven experience supporting desktops, servers, printers, and network hardware.
• Solid knowledge of desktop and server operating systems, especially Microsoft Windows.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 support.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities such as rapport building, active listening, problem solving, and documentation skills.
• Working understanding of IT troubleshooting tools, diagnostic methods, and support workflows.
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Flexibility to participate in on-call support duties when needed.
• Comfort and aptitude to operate effectively in both office and manufacturing settings.
