Engineer Workshop Mechanical

Role Summary

The position is responsible for delivering workshop services as planned, involving machining, valve and PSV repairs and calibrations, providing onsite machining support, coordinating machining activities with external vendors, and managing mechanical equipment overhauling to ensure efficient operations while complying with legal and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily activities in adherence to company policies, procedures, and work instructions to maintain controlled and standardized operations.
• Stay updated with industry best practices and contribute to continuous system and process improvements.
• Create test procedures and formats; standardize mechanical equipment enhancement practices aligned with group guidelines.
• Support workshop maintenance planning by assisting in mechanical maintenance budgeting and resource optimization.
• Carry out machining tasks as per scheduled planning and meet weekly and monthly job timelines.
• Ensure workshop key performance indicators are consistently achieved on a weekly basis.
• Implement preventive maintenance for site mechanical machines and equipment.
• Complete machining and fabrication jobs for non-plant areas as scheduled.
• Manage manufacture and repair of spare parts; identify and maintain stocks of specialized tools required by plant users.
• Conduct planned turnaround and shutdown maintenance on mechanical equipment ensuring testing, calibration, and adherence to safety standards.
• Provide workshop services including machining, safety valve testing and seal lapping; coordinate rotor balancing activities.
• Perform hot tapping operations to support continuous plant functioning.
• Support job inspections ensuring quality as per Quality Assurance Plans; oversee safety valve testing on workshop test benches.
• Prepare compliance audit documentation and support adherence to statutory, CSM and HSE requirements including mandatory trainings.
• Maintain repair and testing records, MIS, and reports timely in the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology is mandatory.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in industrial or mechanical workshop maintenance is required, with approximately 2 years practical field experience preferred.

Desired Knowledge & Skills

• Experience in mechanical maintenance management for rotary and static equipment.
• Competence in inspection management.
• Understanding of machining and production technologies.
• Familiarity with codes and standards, AutoCAD, and metrology techniques.
• Knowledge of workshop maintenance methods including welding of super alloys, hot tapping, repair methodologies like cold welding, weld overlaying, metal stitching, and metallizing.
• Awareness of handling material lifting equipment such as cranes, hydras, forklifts, and EOT cranes.
• Proficient in health and safety standards, with strong analytical thinking, interpersonal communication, and decision-making skills.
