Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician based in Coffs Harbour, Australia for an on-site, freelance position. The role involves supporting crucial infrastructure in top-tier data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, set up, and maintain servers and networking hardware.
• Carry out structured cabling using copper and fiber optics.
• Manage hardware rollouts and decommissioning activities.
• Monitor environmental control systems including power, cooling, and security.
• Troubleshoot incidents promptly and effectively.
• Keep precise documentation and oversee asset management.
• Work collaboratively with engineering and operations groups.
• Engage in capacity planning initiatives and system upgrades.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of three years’ experience in data center operations.
• Advanced expertise in cabling standards such as Cat6/6a and OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber optics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in rack and stack server installations.
• Knowledge of power distribution systems and uninterruptible power supplies.
• Excellent communication skills and documentation capabilities.
• Physically capable of lifting over 50 pounds in challenging environments.
• Preferred certifications include CDCP, CDCS, CDCE for data centers; Dell, HPE, Cisco vendor certifications; CCNA or JNCIA network certification; experience with DCIM platforms; knowledge of ITIL frameworks.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: AUD 78,000 to 98,000 annually.
