Job description
Overview
This position involves managing end-to-end execution of physical metal shipments from trade initiation through to settlement and completion, focusing on dealings with Korean-speaking counterparties as well as stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region. The role encompasses logistics coordination, contract management, shipment risk control, and financial administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining daily written and verbal communication with suppliers, receivers, and service providers.
- Coordinating monthly shipment volumes in line with customer requirements.
- Working directly with multiple company offices to organize and coordinate shipments.
- Updating and maintaining various reports, including Credit Exposure, Logistics, and shipping lists.
- Ensuring the in-house IT system accurately reflects cargo location and status at all times.
- Processing pricing orders from suppliers and customers, including sending acknowledged requests to the deals desk for execution.
- Preparing, verifying, and managing all shipping documentation.
- Coordinating and verifying payments.
- Handling cargo insurance in accordance with Incoterms.
- Managing invoicing and ensuring adherence to payment terms, including Holding Certificates, CAD, Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Bank Collections, and Open Account arrangements, as well as proactive payment follow-ups.
- Organizing inspection, sampling, assaying, and umpire services for cargoes as per contractual agreements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related fields.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the metal or logistics industry preferred.
- Fluent Korean language skills, both spoken and written, for engaging with Korean-speaking partners.
- Strong English proficiency for internal communications with traders and global teams.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with practical use of Excel for data aggregation and reporting.
- Competence in analyzing large datasets and sophisticated logistical issues.
- Excellent analytical skills, capable of succinctly presenting complex information in both written and verbal form.
- Meticulous attention to detail and an efficient approach to routine tasks.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours during critical deadlines and ability to perform well under pressure.
