Position Summary

The Senior Specialist - Scheduling will lead short-term planning and scheduling efforts, ensuring optimized resource allocation and alignment with operational goals. The role is based at the Obuasi Mine and offers a permanent position within the Mine Planning and Technical Services department.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to Scheduling Engineers and junior team members to enhance capabilities and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Support adherence to scheduling standards, procedures, and compliance on site.
• Drive continuous improvement of scheduling tools, systems, and processes while integrating planning with operations and technical teams.
• Collaborate with operational and technical teams for timely development of integrated schedules capturing essential inputs.
• Create and maintain integrated short-term and rolling 12-week schedules ensuring they reflect execution readiness, priorities, and approved plans.
• Ensure consistency between short-term schedules and medium-term forecasts, maintaining milestone, logic, and infrastructure alignment.
• Verify schedule assumptions, durations, constraints, and sequencing to assure realistic and feasible schedules.
• Track schedule performance, progress, compliance, and deviations; identify risks and provide variance analysis for operational reporting.
• Present integrated schedules and related reports in weekly and monthly planning forums.
• Develop and utilize tools for performance tracking and schedule visibility to enhance compliance and accountability.
• Contribute to Management Operating System (MOS) planning forums ensuring schedule outputs meet site reporting standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field is required.
• Advanced proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik is preferred.
• Certification in First Aid and a MINCOM Shift Boss or higher competency certificate is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Membership in a recognized professional body is considered a plus.
• At least eight years of underground mine scheduling and planning experience, including a minimum of five years in senior supervisory roles.
• Strong expertise in short to medium-term scheduling processes and underground mining operations.
• Experience coordinating planning inputs across various technical disciplines.
• Proven track record in creating executable schedules within tight deadlines and mentoring team members.
