Overview
The Stiftung Museum Kunstpalast is seeking a full-time Registrar to join their team at one of North Rhine-Westphalia's prominent cultural institutions. This permanent role involves ensuring that artworks are transported securely, thoroughly documented, and consistently managed through well-defined procedures and meticulous oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage coordination and documentation of loan processes, object relocations, and returns within the museum, storage, and during exhibitions or touring shows.
- Organize associated administrative and logistical workflows including transport, insurance, packaging, courier accompaniment, customs clearance, and conservation requirements.
- Review, coordinate, and maintain records such as condition reports, facility reports, and documents related to insurance, transport, and contracts.
- Prepare agreements for loans, donations, purchases, long-term loans, and usage, ensuring reliable management of contracts, deadlines, and filing systems.
- Support acquisition processes, long-term loans, damage cases, inventory, and documentation projects, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Completed training or degree, preferably in museology, administration, law, archiving, documentation management, collection management, restoration/conservation, or a related field.
- Professional experience handling complex administrative tasks, ideally within cultural, museum, collection, archive, or similar institutions.
- Knowledge of art contract law, loan agreements, insurance and transport documentation, with foundational understanding of customs regulations.
- Highly meticulous, organized, and dependable work style with strong skills in internal and external correspondence.
- Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with different stakeholders, combined with sensitivity to responsible management of art and cultural assets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital documentation or filing systems; strong command of German and English; experience with collection-specific databases, particularly TMS, is advantageous.
