Legal Research Analyst

Position Overview

The role is for a Member of Technical Staff specializing in Legal Research. This full-time contract position offers a remote working arrangement with a compensation range between $350,000 and $500,000 per year.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks designed for AI agents working within legal fields, including creating benchmark suites and methodology for scoring.
• Engage in original research focused on legal reasoning, interpretation of statutes, and automation of legal workflows.
• Create and manage datasets, case studies, and benchmarking environments that realistically reflect legal challenges faced in practice.
• Work alongside AI researchers and engineers to assess and enhance models and systems focused on legal applications.
• Analyze how models perform, assess reasoning quality, and identify failure points within various legal scenarios.
• Document and publish internal findings and best practices concerning legal AI system evaluation.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess an advanced degree in law, such as JD, LLM, SJD, PhD in Law, or an equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge and expertise in one or multiple legal sectors, for example corporate law, contract law, or compliance with regulations.
• Have a proven track record in legal research, detailed analysis, or policy-related work.
• Experience in designing structured methods to evaluate legal arguments or the quality of research.
• Show exceptional skills in analytical reasoning and professional written communication.
