Job description
Role Overview
Join Awa Environmental as an Intermediate Three Waters Engineer, working on diverse projects including large residential and industrial developments, employing low-impact stormwater design methods and nature-based solutions. Responsibilities span from small site developments to urban catchment flood modelling, river works, and major transport infrastructure. The role involves designing bulk infrastructure elements such as trunk mains, pump stations, and reservoirs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform civil engineering design for stormwater, wastewater, and water supply associated with land development and infrastructure projects.
- Develop detailed technical engineering reports and carry out essential calculations.
- Conduct hydraulic modelling to support design proposals.
- Manage projects effectively to align with scope, budget, and timelines.
- Maintain regular client communication and provide project updates.
- Carry out construction site inspections.
- Participate actively in enhancing Awa's technical capabilities and workplace culture.
Candidate Profile

Required Skills and Experience
- Intermediate engineering experience with three to six years in practice.
- Proficient in design software including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience using hydraulic and hydrologic modelling tools such as HY-8, HEC-HMS, SSA, and EPANET.
- Demonstrated expertise in three waters engineering design.
- Excellent communication abilities, including report writing skills.
- Solid, well-rounded engineering background.
- Genuine interest and respect for Te Ao Māori culture and principles.
- Application of Artificial Intelligence to enhance project outcomes.
- Adaptability to work fluidly across multiple offices and collaborate with diverse teams.
