Job Overview
This position involves the secure and efficient transportation of goods, catering supplies, and equipment for AMWAJ Group of Companies between their premises and client sites. The Heavy Driver will be responsible for operating heavy vehicles while complying with local traffic rules, company protocols, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
Key Duties
- Operate heavy vehicles responsibly in line with traffic laws and internal policies.
- Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring all materials are properly secured for transit.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify mechanical faults.
- Report any vehicle issues promptly to maintenance teams.
- Coordinate deliveries and collections closely with logistics, warehouse, and catering units to meet schedules.
- Maintain precise records of deliveries and adhere strictly to planned routes.
- Respond to urgent or emergency delivery requests as required.
- Represent AMWAJ professionally during all transport operations, emphasizing safety and punctuality.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a valid heavy vehicle driving license in Qatar with demonstrable expertise in driving trucks or comparable heavy vehicles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local road regulations and defensive driving practices.
- Experience in logistics or distribution, including route planning and document handling.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance checks such as fluid levels, tire conditions, and lighting.
- Physically fit to manage cargo loading/unloading and securing.
- Understanding of industrial or catering-related HSE guidelines.
- Dependable, punctual, and amenable to flexible scheduling, including working on weekends or holidays when necessary.
- Basic proficiency in English; additional languages such as Arabic are advantageous.
- Prior work experience in oil & gas, catering, or hospitality industries preferred.
- Completion of high school or equivalent educational background is beneficial.
