Key Responsibilities

• Direct all daily distribution center functions including receiving, put-away, storage, order picking, staging, loading, and managing returns
• Be accountable for throughput metrics, on-time shipments, and order accuracy while reporting performance to executive leadership
• Plan and implement annual operating strategies supporting company growth and seasonal demand
• Enhance space utilization and slotting efficiency within the facility
• Ensure inventory accuracy via cycle counts, physical inventories, and addressing discrepancies
• Coordinate receiving schedules and labor management for devanning processes
• Minimize damages through inspection procedures, packaging standards, and staff training on material handling
• Oversee repair and return processes to maximize recovery value from damaged or clearance merchandise
• Improve delivery route density and customer communication to boost first-attempt delivery success and satisfaction
• Lead and develop a team comprising operations managers, supervisors, and hourly workers across shifts
• Create workforce plans balancing permanent and temporary staff to meet seasonal volume changes; manage hiring, onboarding, and retention
• Set and enforce performance standards while fostering accountability, coaching, and succession planning
• Manage the distribution center's budget, including labor, freight, equipment, and facility costs
• Analyze and work to reduce shipping and delivery costs per unit while achieving measurable savings
• Oversee capital investments for racking, material handling equipment, and technological upgrades
• Promote a safety-first work environment ensuring OSHA compliance, forklift certification, ergonomic practices, and proper incident investigations
• Maintain facility, fleet, and equipment readiness through scheduled preventive maintenance and managing vendor relationships
• Ensure adherence to Department of Transportation regulations and internal audit standards
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methods to eliminate wastes and enhance productivity
• Drive technology enhancements including warehouse management systems, transportation management, RF devices, automation, and ERP/e-commerce integration
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Sales, Customer Service, and IT departments to align operations with business priorities
