Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician

Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT) in Indonesia to support inventory control and asset movement inside a data center environment. In this role, you will carry out cycle counts, handle inbound and outbound shipments, arrange security escorts for outside vendors, and maintain accurate delivery records. The position is designed to build deeper expertise in inventory processes, warranty handling, and destruction of data-bearing devices while supporting your career growth.

Within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), you will help power the infrastructure behind services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities

• Handle assigned work and raise concerns quickly when workloads are heavy or situations need escalation.
• Work with suppliers to start warranty claims and manage failed vendor hardware through the full RMA workflow, including processing, packing, shipping, and receiving returns in line with SLA commitments.
• Use your understanding of the process and sound judgment to complete tasks with limited day-to-day supervision.
• Keep a clear view of how completed tickets and inventory/asset management tasks affect operations.
• Maintain accurate and current records in inventory systems and asset repositories, including configuration management databases.
• Support precise physical tracking and staging of inventory.
• Assist in identifying, reconciling, and reporting inventory mismatches.
• Carry out destruction of data-bearing devices when required, following Microsoft policies and SLA requirements.
• Inform management about low stock levels and any ordering shortages, and escalate issues as needed.
• Follow security controls and data management requirements at all times.
• Represent Microsoft’s culture and values in day-to-day work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus at least 1 year of experience in warehouse, supply chain, inventory management, retail, warehouse operations, or a related role within an IT environment; or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
• Must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check at hiring/transfer and every two years after that.
• Must be able to verify Indonesian citizenship and provide a valid Indonesian passport because the role is subject to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
• Preferred: at least 1 year of experience in warehouse, supply chain, IT, and/or logistics in an IT setting, including operating heavy-load movement equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts for a large organization; or equivalent experience.
