About the Role
Our partner company based in Canada is seeking a Vice President of Research & Development to lead a transformative journey within their technology organization. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transformation of the R&D team by integrating AI-driven processes to boost efficiency, speed of delivery, and deliver tangible business value.
- Convert AI technologies into initiatives that expand revenue, optimize costs, and guide strategic tech investments.
- Drive modernization of enterprise software platforms utilizing AI-assisted development and advanced engineering workflows.
- Steer product strategy focusing on intelligent AI-enabled features that enhance the company's competitive edge.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on technology to top executives by linking technical choices with business priorities and financial results.
- Develop and present robust business cases for tech investments while collaborating cross-functionally with sales, support, and professional services teams.
- Manage R&D financials, balancing budgets among development, reducing technical debt, and strategic projects.
- Implement metrics-focused development practices to improve delivery speed, predictability, and software quality.
- Lead and mentor a large engineering workforce, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic objectives.

Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a senior technology leader, such as VP of Engineering or similar executive role in R&D.
- Track record of actualizing AI projects from inception to production with measurable impacts like increased revenue or reduced costs.
- Expertise in modernizing mature, revenue-generating enterprise software platforms.
- Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle and engineering operational improvements.
- Experience leading sizable engineering teams through cultural and operational transformations.
- Strong business insight with a history of aligning technology investments to financial and organizational targets.
- R&D budget management with proficiency in profit and loss oversight.
- Excellent communication skills capable of influencing senior executives and clearly expressing technical concepts in business terms.
- High emotional intelligence to build trust, inspire teams, and navigate complex challenges.
- Strategic thinker with practical execution ability, focused on delivering quantifiable outcomes.
- Curious and open to adopting AI and automation tools to enhance business outcomes.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%, including international trips as needed.
