Overview

The Logistics Process Improvement Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing various logistics and supply chain functions by identifying, planning, and executing continuous improvement initiatives. This position aims to optimize material flow, warehouse operations, inventory management systems, transportation routes, and distribution processes to boost overall efficiency, service quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Examine current logistics workflows to uncover opportunities for enhancements.
• Design and execute projects to improve inbound, internal, and outbound material handling.
• Advocate best practices to elevate logistics productivity and service delivery.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts employing Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and similar methodologies.
• Evaluate and refine material handling, warehouse layouts, and storage management to minimize waste, reduce handling times, and cut storage expenses.
• Increase space utilization and ease of inventory access at storage facilities and distribution centers.
• Assist with deploying automated systems for storage and material handling when suitable.
• Review inventory management techniques and implement improvements in control systems and processes.
• Track inventory accuracy, stock levels, replenishment cycles, and turnover rates while coordinating with operations, procurement, and planning teams to maximize inventory efficiency.
• Assess transportation and distribution networks to optimize delivery speed and lessen costs, suggesting improved routing and distribution tactics.
• Analyze freight usage, transportation capabilities, and carrier effectiveness and support the rollout of transport management tools.
• Gather and interpret logistics data to spot trends and improvement areas.
• Develop and monitor logistics performance indicators such as inventory accuracy, turnover, on-time deliveries, transportation costs, warehouse use, lead times, and order fulfillment rates.
• Create reports based on data analysis and communicate insights to management.
• Establish and maintain standardized logistics procedures and contribute to system upgrades and implementations, ensuring documentation is current.
• Support digital transformation efforts within logistics.
• Collaborate with departments including Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Planning, Customer Service, and Warehousing to align logistics projects with company goals.
• Provide expert guidance to operational teams and influence improvements through data-backed recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards concerning safety, quality, and environmental protocols.
• Identify potential risks in logistics operations and devise strategies to mitigate them.

Qualifications and Experience

• Educational background: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree.
• Professional experience: Over six years in logistics, supply chain operations, warehouse management, distribution, and process improvements.
• Technical expertise: Familiarity with logistics process analysis, warehouse and distribution management, inventory control, transportation strategy, supply chain optimization, ERP systems such as SAP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), advanced Excel, and data analytics. Basic digital skills are advantageous.
