Role overview

Happiest Minds Technologies is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Pune team. The role calls for practical experience in sheet metal design, GD&T, and CAD-based modeling. The selected professional will create, update, and manage mechanical designs, drawings, and engineering records while making sure the work aligns with design standards and manufacturing expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop sheet metal parts and assemblies from concept through design release.
• Build 3D CAD models, prepare detailed drawings, and maintain associated engineering documents in SolidWorks.
• Use GD&T practices to improve manufacturability and keep designs aligned with required standards.
• Contribute to product development work, design revisions, and engineering change activities.
• Work closely with teams across manufacturing, quality, and product engineering.
• Update and preserve design data and documentation within PLM platforms.
• Take part in design reviews and support ongoing improvement efforts.

Required background and skills

The role requires a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Applicants should have strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, hands-on sheet metal design experience, and solid capability in CAD modeling and drafting. Working knowledge of SolidWorks is essential, along with the ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing requirements.

Preferred experience

Candidates with exposure to Enovia or similar PLM tools will have an advantage. Familiarity with manufacturing methods, the product development cycle, and engineering change management is also useful.
