KiwiCo is an innovative eCommerce company focused on inspiring creativity and curiosity among children and adults alike. Through both our online and offline offerings, we provide engaging hands-on projects and educational content primarily via a subscription service. We also operate an e-commerce storefront and a content platform aimed at sparking imagination and learning. Our headquarters are in Mountain View, CA, conveniently located near the Caltrain station. This role follows a hybrid work model with 3-4 days in the office weekly, shifting for team needs.
Role Overview
As the Senior Category Manager for our Direct to Consumer (DTC) business, you will oversee our subscription products and individual store merchandise. You will be responsible for overall business growth and profitability (P&L ownership), managing pricing, promotions, and customer insights. This position collaborates cross-functionally with marketing, product, and operations teams to prioritize initiatives and share insights. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you'll work closely with the executive team based in Mountain View.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the P&L for the DTC category, demonstrating proven success in eCommerce growth.
- Drive strategy and execution for subscription and individual product lines.
- Develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies to balance customer acquisition with profitability.
- Partner with marketing, product, and operations teams to align product roadmaps and growth plans.
- Create innovative solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and attract new users.
- Maintain a customer-centric approach across all touchpoints, evolving offerings to meet user needs.
- Analyze consumer behavior, market trends, and performance data to guide initiatives.
- Communicate insights clearly and persuasively to influence stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Work collaboratively across departments to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Exhibit ownership, drive, and competitive spirit in fulfilling business goals.
Required Qualifications
- 6 to 8+ years of experience in eCommerce strategy, growth, and business management.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) is required.
- Demonstrated successful ownership of business P&L with accountability for results.
- Strong analytical abilities, capable of extracting actionable insights from data.
- Experience crafting and executing pricing and promotional strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience presenting to executive leadership.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with initiative and a hands-on approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is advantageous.
- Experience in consumer subscription products, retail eCommerce, or digital platforms is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $140,000 to $160,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined by various factors such as expertise, experience, market dynamics, and company needs. Beyond base pay, KiwiCo provides a comprehensive rewards package that may include annual bonuses, stock options, and benefits supporting health, financial security, and well-being. All elements of the total rewards are subject to adjustment at the company’s discretion.
