Overview
This role, sourced through a partner company operating in the United States, seeks a Project Management Journeyman to support complex federal initiatives. The key responsibility involves coordinating projects, enhancing operational processes, and ensuring the successful delivery of business and technological solutions. The position spans multidisciplinary collaboration to drive execution and facilitate transformation efforts within a tightly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and track comprehensive project documentation such as schedules, plans, roadmaps, risk and dependency registers, action logs, and status reports.
- Manage coordination among product owners, project managers, technical, data, communication teams, and government stakeholders to align project activities.
- Support governance processes by preparing project health reviews, charters, RACI matrices, gate assessments, leadership reports, and tracking performance metrics.
- Monitor timeline adherence, milestones, and objectives while detecting risks, resource constraints, and blockers; recommend mitigations or escalate issues as needed.
- Implement Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and PMBOK guidelines to maintain predictable project delivery and foster continuous improvement.
- Assist with sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, version control of documentation, and other Agile practices.
- Oversee technology deployment activities such as testing, integration, user acceptance, and post-launch reviews.
- Develop operational readiness documentation including timelines, success criteria, stakeholder engagement plans, training assignments, and deployment guides.
- Facilitate meetings by preparing agendas, recording decisions, tracking tasks, and ensuring follow-through.
- Collect and report project metrics and KPIs to support performance dashboards and executive briefings.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant federal policies, security protocols, privacy rules, accessibility standards, and data governance.
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes and increase operational efficiency to support continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Information Technology, or a similar field is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in project management, business transformation, IT implementation, or operations within complex environments.
- Proven ability to produce and maintain project planning documents, status updates, and risk management tools.
- Experience facilitating stakeholder coordination and managing interdependencies to achieve project objectives.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean practices, or frameworks aligned with PMBOK principles.
- Experience participating in testing, deployment, operational readiness, change management, or continuous improvement efforts.
- Prior work in federal, government, or regulated sectors is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent analytical thinking, detail orientation, organizational abilities, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work autonomously, and adapt in dynamic circumstances.
- Eligibility for and maintenance of necessary government background clearances and suitability standards.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government programs, immigration-related services, or civilian agencies.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Planner, SharePoint, Teams, Mural, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Exposure to executive briefings, governance panels, cross-team roadmaps, and strategic planning.
- Expertise in process mapping, metrics development, readiness planning, and deployment coordination.
- Ability to grasp complex issues rapidly and articulate actionable solutions.
- Strong teamwork skills with resilience under pressure.
