About the Role

Tesla is seeking a driven and goal-focused Process Engineer to support the application of Industrial Engineering and Lean methodologies within its Energy Hub Operations in North America. This role involves thorough understanding of the distribution network objectives and close cooperation with both internal teams and external partners to enhance processes, boosting efficiency and quality in operations. Working in a fast-moving, demanding environment, the candidate will focus on a key subsystem of Tesla’s innovative energy products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support industrial engineers in designing and rolling out efficient processes to optimize operations related to workforce, equipment, materials, and information flow aiming for optimal performance.
  • Work alongside Operations teams to identify local areas for improvement, lead concept development phases, and coordinate with third-party providers on system construction, integration testing, project oversight, deployment, and transitioning operations within Tesla sites.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including Warehouse Operations, Infrastructure Management, IT Application Developers, Supply Chain Automation teams, Production Control, Material Planning, MHE Vendors, and Logistics departments.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to spot process bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop multi-process workstation designs, standardized workflows, staffing plans, and process maps to successfully rebalance workflows when needed.
  • Create detailed diagrams illustrating workflow paths, product movement, facility layouts, material handling, and machinery use.
  • Gather statistical data on cycle times, conduct analyses, and recommend process optimizations.
  • Apply knowledge of Lean tools such as 5S, Work Measurement, Just-In-Time processes, Continuous Improvement, and Problem-Solving techniques.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or minimum of three years’ relevant experience in materials management, inventory control, material conveyance, or project management in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong grasp of Lean manufacturing concepts, including definitions and applications of Takt Time and Cycle Time.
  • Ability to perform efficiently under pressure while juggling competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding customer service orientation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable dealing with incomplete or ambiguous data in a dynamic setting.
