About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our team at Christchurch Airport on a full-time basis, working 40 hours per week. This role involves maintaining and repairing a diverse range of vehicles in our extensive fleet, requiring your expertise to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective service.
Work Schedule and Location
- Permanent full-time position with 40 hours weekly
- Shift pattern: Four 10-hour shifts on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
- Position based at Christchurch Airport with complimentary staff parking
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle servicing in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards, including minor repairs and preventive maintenance such as fluid replacement, oil and air filter changes, tyre and brake servicing, and fitting accessories like ski racks on cars, trucks, and fleet vehicles
- Manage inventory by monitoring parts levels and coordinating orders with the Service Administrator
- Assemble mechanical components following specifications
- Conduct diagnostic tests to identify functionality issues
- Provide support to colleagues as needed
- Complete repair orders and offer roadside assistance when required
- Prepare vehicles for return and sale
- Test and maintain workshop equipment to ensure safety compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely records of jobs and service history within company systems
- Follow Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental policies rigorously, including reporting accidents and hazards and adhering to emergency procedures to maintain a safe workplace
Candidate Requirements
- Valid full driver's license, including manual transmission vehicles
- Trade qualification in Motor Mechanics (minimum Level 4) with prior mechanic experience; experience in the car rental sector is a plus
- Proficient with petrol and diesel engines
- Ability to work full-time 40-hour weeks; candidates on Student or Working Holiday Visas are ineligible and sponsorship is not provided
- Customer-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable work attitude
- Strong multitasking capabilities across multiple sites with high attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills plus familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety laws
Shift Timings
- Monday to Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- Saturday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
