Role Overview
The OR Scheduler supports the coordination of elective surgical bookings for the operating room, endoscopy, and anesthesia-only procedures performed outside the operating room. This role excludes labor and delivery at Women’s and Children’s and the cath lab. The position also provides support to physicians and staff, helps keep the office running smoothly, maintains a safe and organized work area, and assists with onboarding new team members.
Education
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience
- At least 1 year of prior experience in a secretarial, receptionist, or customer service role is required.
- Experience in a medical setting is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Clear verbal and written communication.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Ability to handle phones, fax machines, and other communication tools properly.
- Customer-focused approach and comfort working with people from varied backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Good time management and the ability to prioritize work, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to set priorities, delegate when needed, and follow through on issues in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Problem-solving and negotiation skills when working with physicians and staff.
- Basic keyboarding skills and comfort using a personal computer.
