Description de l'emploi
About Chore
Chore is dedicated to ending administrative burdens to empower founders to focus on building their ventures. We specialize in maintaining essential back-office operations including HR, payroll, compliance, onboarding, documentation, and workflows for startups. Our remote-first team values ownership, innovation, meritocracy, clarity, and excellence. We seek individuals eager to solve operational challenges and grow rapidly in a dynamic environment.
Role Overview
As an Operations Specialist, you will oversee the backend functions for US startup clients, managing HR, payroll, onboarding/offboarding processes, compliance, documentation, recurring workflows, and urgent operational requests. This role involves ensuring smooth, predictable operations and clear communication so founders never have to chase updates. You'll also lead internal strategic projects aimed at optimizing Chore's own operations by designing scalable systems, documentation, dashboards, and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client back-office processes end-to-end including HR, payroll, onboarding/offboarding, compliance coordination, documentation, recurring workflows, and urgent requests.
- Lead cross-functional internal projects such as creating SOPs, dashboards, and process improvements from planning through execution.
- Proactively enhance processes by refining workflows, clarifying documentation, and introducing smarter, repeatable approaches.
- Communicate with clarity and emotional intelligence, providing concise updates, highlighting risks early, and fostering trust.
- Exhibit strong ownership and sound judgment by prioritizing autonomously, escalating thoughtfully, and delivering results independently.
Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in back-office or business operations—covering areas like HR, payroll, compliance, onboarding, documentation, or workflow management—is highly advantageous, particularly with outcome responsibility.
- Self-driven with high initiative, able to identify and address operational gaps end-to-end.
- Effective problem solver with ability to derive solutions independently.
- Exceptional written communication skills and ability to collaborate with US-based founders and teams.
- Quick learner comfortable adapting to new tools and domains.
- Calm and composed under pressure, reliably managing high-responsibility tasks.
Why Join Chore?
- Unique opportunity to independently manage operational functions for real companies, gaining impactful experience early on.
- Immediate ownership rather than support tasks.
- Gain rare insight into US startup operations through collaboration with multiple clients.
- Work alongside ambitious and excellence-driven colleagues in a fully remote setting.
- Rapid professional growth prospects.
- Start by partnering with a US teammate, with progression to owning your client portfolio and leading internal initiatives.
- Engage in leadership conversations and cross-functional collaboration across operations, product, marketing, and more.
Compensation and Work Conditions
- Annual salary of $10,200, with performance-based quarterly bonuses up to 30%.
- Merit-based salary growth tied to demonstrated ownership and impact.
- Equity allocation to all employees with additional grants based on tenure and performance.
- Monthly remote work stipend up to $250 and wellness stipend up to $50 after a 60-day trial period.
- Fully remote role requiring consistent work during US Eastern or Pacific business hours.
Important Information Before Applying
- Reliable internet, power backup, and quiet workspace are essential.
- Working US business hours is mandatory and challenging.
- The role requires creating order in ambiguous situations and handling simultaneous projects and clients.
- Comfort with giving and receiving feedback across all levels.
- High self-management with minimal supervision.
- Client-facing demands include fast pace and clarity.
- The first 60 days serve as a fully paid trial period focused on demonstrating capability in managing client workflows and communication effectively.
Our Values
- Making work simpler and more thoughtful for clients and teammates.
- Meritocracy based on value creation rather than background.
- Continuous experimentation and adaptation.
- Assuming positive intent and proactively resolving issues.
Application Process
Applicants must complete a three-step application process: an AI interview reflecting your personal story, submitting an application with a Google Drive folder containing all required documents named in a prescribed format, and confirming submission via email with specific details and confirmations regarding working hours, ambiguity tolerance, prior applications, and readiness for the trial period. Shortlisted candidates move onto a paid assignment and subsequent interview rounds.
