Role overview
This position focuses on growing revenue by using a consultative retention approach with WM’s existing national accounts. The role is centered on maintaining current business relationships, hitting sales targets, strengthening retention plans, and negotiating effectively to keep customer business. It also involves converting previously non-contracted customers into signed agreements.
Key responsibilities
- Build and sustain strong customer satisfaction levels across national accounts, while working toward retention targets and coordinating with the Retention Manager to address unusual customer concerns.
- Lower churn by handling cancellation requests proactively and meeting or exceeding call activity expectations tied to account retention.
- Improve revenue and profitability by carrying out well-planned retention calls that enhance customer service and/or account economics.
- Align WM’s offerings with customer requirements by understanding customer needs, pricing, and competitive positioning; clearly explain pricing and service approaches; and surface related WM business opportunities through internal referrals where relevant.
- Develop deeper knowledge of the industry and the company to support complex proposal preparation and informed recommendations.
- Recommend customer solutions that comply with applicable local, state, and federal rules.
- Maintain and renew customer service agreements as needed.
Qualifications
Applicants must live and work in the United States. A bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required, although equivalent experience may be accepted. The role also calls for 7 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or another relevant field. A master’s degree in a similar subject area is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The expected base salary for this role in the United States is $100,000 to $121,000 per year. Compensation is also commission-eligible. Eligible employees receive a benefits package that may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, short-term disability, a stock purchase plan, 401(k) matching, paid vacation, holidays, and personal days. Benefits can vary by location.
