Role overview
This full-time administrative opportunity is based within a close-knit team in Beechworth and offers a strong entry point for someone interested in building a long-term career in public service. The role sits at VPS Grade 2 with a salary range of $60,295 to $77,430 plus superannuation.
Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security prison that supports rehabilitation and reintegration. Prisoners participate in work industries to build skills for future employment, and when not working they take part in rehabilitation programs, education and community assistance activities.
The Justice Officer, Prison Services provides administrative support and client service inside the prison environment. The position calls for a strong customer service mindset, the ability to work well in a team and a high level of integrity. Because the role is based in a prison, some direct interaction with prisoners is part of the job.
What you will do
- Carry out administration duties within a correctional setting.
- Provide client service support to people within the prison environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in a small, close team.
- Use computer systems and finance-related software to complete day-to-day tasks.
- Interact appropriately with prisoners as required by the role.
What you need
- Strong computer skills and confidence using digital systems.
- Experience with a finance-related platform such as Oracle.
- Knowledge of shop, store or warehousing operations.
- A customer-focused approach with sound teamwork skills.
- Integrity and the ability to work effectively in a prison environment.
