Opportunity Overview
We are looking for a seasoned IT System Expert specialized in Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration. This position involves designing, deploying, managing, troubleshooting, and lifecycle upkeep of OpenShift container platforms alongside Linux infrastructure, with a bonus for Oracle Solaris experience.
Key Duties
- Manage and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments.
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and resolve issues on Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
- Oversee OpenShift clusters including control plane, worker nodes, operators, and platform services.
- Monitor cluster health, plan capacity, optimize performance, and troubleshoot.
- Implement security hardening measures, RBAC, authentication, certificate management, and comply with standards.
- Support deployment of containerized applications and integrate CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage OS patching, upgrades, vulnerability fixes, and lifecycle responsibilities.
- Troubleshoot Linux OS, OpenShift platform, network, storage, and container-related complexities.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, and security teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Create automation tools using Ansible and shell scripts.
- Prepare technical documentation, standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
- Engage in incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
- Provide senior-level technical support and act as escalation contact for OpenShift and Linux systems.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 8 to 10+ years in IT infrastructure administration.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Red Hat OpenShift (OCP 4.x).
- Proficient with Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 7, 8, and 9 administration.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture, container orchestration, and runtimes.
- Experienced with OpenShift components like Operators, Routes, Projects, Networking, Storage Classes, Persistent Volumes, and Image Registry.
- Linux system administration skills including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security enhancements.
- Experienced in automation technologies such as Ansible and shell scripting.
- Sound knowledge of networking protocols and concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and SSL/TLS.
- Experience integrating SAN, NFS, CSI storage solutions in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and Kibana.
Additional Advantageous Skills
- Oracle Solaris (versions 10 and 11) system administration experience.
- Red Hat Satellite expertise.
- Kubernetes certifications and container security awareness.
Preferred Certifications
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
- Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
