Role Summary

The HR Business Partner acts as a strategic advisor embedded within one of our business verticals. You will collaborate closely with the General Manager and leadership to align human capital strategies with business goals, helping to nurture and maintain an engaged workforce. This position requires a blend of strategic vision and tactical execution, coaching leaders through complex employee relations, supporting organizational growth, and guiding talent management decisions. You may also oversee Employee Resources Partners providing frontline HR support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal HR liaison for a designated business segment, cooperating with senior leaders to ensure alignment of people initiatives with business objectives.
  • Develop strong relationships with management and employees to offer actionable HR advice enhancing both performance and employee experience.
  • Provide guidance to leaders on employee relations issues, performance management, leadership development, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate on workforce planning, talent development, succession strategies, and employee retention drives.
  • Manage complex employee relations cases including investigations and disciplinary actions, mitigating organizational risk.
  • Analyze HR data and workforce metrics to uncover areas for improvement and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Coordinate with HR specialties like Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, and Learning & Development to deliver unified HR services.
  • Support change management efforts such as business expansion, restructuring, workforce transitions, and mergers/acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and consistent application of company HR policies.
  • Offer oversight and support to Employee Resources Partners, ensuring consistent HR service delivery and acting as an escalation point for complex issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or comparable experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR experience with direct business partnership.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence through sound judgment and business insight.
  • Extensive background in employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and legal compliance.
  • Experience working with operational, field-based, or multi-state teams in dynamic environments.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws; California law expertise highly desirable.
  • Ability to balance strategic HR planning with hands-on management across multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, interpersonal, and conflict management skills.
  • Strong analytic aptitude leveraging HR metrics to inform decisions.
  • Experience with HRIS systems required; knowledge of UKG and PeopleSoft is advantageous.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Industry experience in telecommunications, utilities, energy, construction, or industrial services is preferred.
  • Leadership experience in guiding HR teams or projects is a plus.
  • Certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are preferred.
