About the Role
The Social House Nairobi Hotel is seeking a highly skilled pastry leader who is deeply passionate about pâtisserie and able to create desserts and baked items that leave a lasting impression. This position calls for a forward-thinking professional with strong mastery of both traditional and contemporary French pastry methods, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to motivate and guide a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a creative pastry offering built on classic French techniques.
- Manage, coach, and motivate the pastry team to consistently meet five-star service expectations.
- Supervise day-to-day pastry operations, with a focus on flavour, visual appeal, and uniform quality.
- Ensure strict compliance with hygiene standards, including HACCP practices, while also controlling costs and selecting high-quality ingredients.
Requirements
- Degree in Pastry or Culinary Arts.
- At least 7 years of experience in a luxury hospitality setting, including more than 3 years in a Head of Pastry position.
- Strong hands-on command of French pastry specialties such as viennoiserie, entremets, plated desserts, and chocolate and sugar artistry.
- Ability to combine creativity, innovation, and strong flavour development.
- Excellent leadership, planning, and communication abilities.
