Executive Director - Child Safe Organisations

About the Role

The Queensland Family and Child Commission is seeking a highly skilled executive to lead the Child Safe Organisations division overseeing the regulation of the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme. Reporting directly to the Principal Commissioner, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership within a complex regulatory framework to promote child safety and wellbeing across Queensland. This role offers a distinct opportunity to influence public policy, enhance child protection systems, and contribute to the formation of the forthcoming Queensland Protection Commission.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the regulation of Queensland's Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme to improve safeguarding outcomes state-wide.
• Provide strategic oversight and management of a large-scale, risk-based regulatory function ensuring decisions are consistent and grounded in evidence.
• Drive compliance, investigations, assessments, and statutory decision-making following legislative requirements.
• Cultivate robust partnerships with government agencies, regulators, community organisations, and sector leaders to enhance child safety outcomes.
• Lead organisational transformation and drive continuous improvement initiatives to boost regulatory effectiveness and service delivery.
• Offer expert strategic advice to the Principal Commissioner, Executive Leadership Board, and government on emerging regulatory matters and system performance.
• Create a high-performing, inclusive, and values-driven culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and ongoing learning.
• Ensure strong governance, responsible financial management, workforce leadership, and adherence to work health and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

• Extensive executive leadership experience managing complex regulatory, compliance, or organisational functions.
• Proven ability to influence system-wide reforms and deliver strategic organisational results.
• Exceptional skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management across government, regulatory bodies, and diverse sectors.
• Experience providing high-level strategic advice to senior executives, Ministers, or regulatory agencies.
• Strong commercial acumen, governance expertise, and sound judgment supporting leadership decisions.
• Capability to lead high-performing teams within an inclusive, culturally safe, and collaborative environment.
