About Te Tauraki Limited
Te Tauraki Limited, a subsidiary of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, operates as an Iwi-Māori Partnership Board and commissioning agency for Whānau Ora services across Te Waipounamu, focused on supporting Whānau Māori to live healthy lives.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our compact yet proficient Data, Insights & Impact team based in Christchurch (Ōtautahi). This unique role involves engagement across the entire data lifecycle—from designing data systems and creating integrations to facilitating reporting, analytics, visualization, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance Te Tauraki’s data environment.
- Manage diverse technologies and data sources to produce reliable, accessible, and well-managed data assets supporting operations, reporting, evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Improve data quality, decrease manual processing, boost reporting capabilities, and ensure adherence to Māori data sovereignty principles and Ngāi Tahu values.
- Contribute to data engineering, warehousing, integration, automation, analytics, reporting, business intelligence, data governance, quality, and foster collaboration and continuous enhancements.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is technically adept, inquisitive, and embraces working across multiple disciplines to transform complexity into practical solutions. You should have at least five years of relevant experience including Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, BI, or Analytics Engineering.
- Proficient in SQL with experience in building data models, data pipelines, integrations, and reusable datasets.
- Experienced in PostgreSQL administration, database design, security, and optimization.
- Knowledgeable in the Azure data platform, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Key Vault.
- Skilled at integrating and managing multiple and fragmented data sources.
- Familiar with Power BI and capable of structuring data to support effective reporting and analytics.
- Strong problem-solving ability and delivery-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in the health, social, or public sectors, or involvement with kaupapa Māori organisations or Māori data sovereignty principles is highly advantageous.
