About the Role
The Renfrew County District School Board is seeking a Custodian for Fellowes High School located in Pembroke, ON. This position involves a diverse range of cleaning, maintenance, and building operation tasks under the direction of the head custodian or area supervisor. The working hours are 8 hours per day, five days a week, specifically from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with potential schedule adjustments during school breaks.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform general custodial duties including routine cleaning of rooms, washrooms, and fixtures, floor maintenance such as mopping, scrubbing, and refinishing, removal of garbage and recycling, as well as carpet vacuuming and shampooing. Operate cleaning machinery and diagnose minor equipment issues. Carry out groundskeeping tasks such as snow removal and lawn care using manual and mechanized equipment. Attend to building maintenance needs including locker, door, and furniture repairs, electrical tasks like replacing fuses and light bulbs, resetting breakers, and clearing drains. Respond promptly to emergency calls and assist in building opening and closing.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent (Grade 12) and at least one year of custodial experience. Candidates must be dependable, capable of performing heavy physical work, and able to manage duties independently or within a team. Effective communication skills to follow both oral and written instructions are essential, as is the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards, WHMIS, and basic computer skills (email, Excel, Word) are advantageous. The position requires sound judgment, trustworthiness, and adherence to high ethical standards.

Employment will adhere to CUPE 1247 Collective Agreement and RCDSB Administrative Procedures, with preference given to bargaining unit members. All hires are contingent upon a vulnerable sector screening clearance and verification of educational credentials.
