Overview
This role requires preparing and cooking meals, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards in a restaurant setting. The position is on-site with no remote work option, based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.
Languages and Education
- Proficiency in English
- Completion of Secondary (high) school education
Experience
A minimum of 2 years but less than 3 years of relevant experience in cooking or kitchen operations is required.
Work Environment
- Work is conducted at a physical restaurant location.
Responsibilities
- Determine appropriate food portion sizes and the associated costs.
- Plan menus and estimate food quantities needed for preparation.
- Request food and kitchen supply orders.
- Prepare and cook entire meals or individual dishes as required.
- Cater to customers with specific food allergies or intolerances.
- Prepare specialized meals for patients according to dietitian or chef instructions.
- Inspect kitchen and dining areas to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Order kitchen supplies and equipment as necessary.
- Oversee and supervise kitchen staff and assistants.
- Maintain inventory and accurate records for food, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and workspaces.
- Manage day-to-day kitchen operations effectively.
