About the internship

This internship is centered on intellectual property work for an electric mobility company developing vans and trucks for Indian and overseas markets. The role supports patent strategy, invention capture, filing preparation, research, and coordination with legal experts across the patent lifecycle.

What you will do

• Work with engineering, R&D, and product teams to collect technical inputs on new inventions and technologies.
• Carry out early-stage patentability checks, prior-art searches, and broader IP research to support filing decisions.
• Draft patent applications with attention to technical accuracy, clarity, and patent-office compliance.
• Liaise with outside patent attorneys during drafting, filing, and prosecution activities.
• Serve as a communication bridge between internal stakeholders and external legal counsel throughout the filing process.
• Track patent submissions in multiple jurisdictions and follow up on their status.
• Monitor office actions, manage deadlines, and help maintain prosecution compliance.
• Support the company’s IP strategy and assist with patent portfolio management.
• Study technology and market developments in the automobile and EV sector and share insights with Product, Marketing, and Sales teams.
• Develop industry-facing content such as newsletters and reports based on IP and technology research, in coordination with the Research IP Analyst.
• Maintain organized records of patent filings, IP-related activities, and associated financial documentation.

Who can apply

Applicants must be available for a full-time, in-office internship, be able to begin between 7 Jul 2026 and 11 Aug 2026, commit for 6 months, and have relevant skills and interests. Mechanical Engineering students are specifically mentioned as eligible.

Additional requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related field from a reputed engineering institute.
• A law degree (LL.B.) is preferred.
• Good knowledge of patent laws, regulations, and the patent filing process.
• Experience or comfort with patent databases and IP management tools.
• Ability to prepare claim charts and perform patentability, prior-art, freedom-to-operate (FTO), and infringement searches.
• Working familiarity with Indian patent law, US patent law, WIPO processes, and European patent regulations.
• Strong spoken and written English skills for technical and legal communication; foreign language ability is a plus.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and the ability to handle several projects and deadlines at once.
• Ability to understand complex technical ideas and adapt quickly to new technologies as business needs evolve.
• Strong analytical and presentation abilities, with a clear and concise communication style.
• Capability to produce accurate, data-backed, well-researched technical content independently or with supervision.
• A willingness to learn, adapt, and try new methods and technologies.

Compensation

The internship offers a stipend of INR 15,000 to 20,000 per month.
