Maintenance Worker NA-07

Overview

This role entails performing various maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing repairs, laboring, and vehicle operation duties on site at Grafenwöhr, Bavaria, Germany. The position demands working in diverse indoor and outdoor conditions, often involving physical exertion and the use of tools and equipment to support military community facilities and infrastructure.

Key Duties

• Measure, cut, assemble, and repair wood and wood-like materials requiring precise fit to construct or restore serviceable structures.
• Prepare surfaces and apply coatings including paints, varnishes, and shellacs to new and existing materials, handling mixing and thinning of paints as needed.
• Replace electrical components such as switches, outlets, and bulbs; undertake plumbing repairs including faucet and toilet maintenance.
• Load, unload, and move heavy materials manually or using dollies; disassemble crates and boxes using hand tools.
• Drive vehicles up to 5 tons within the facility to transport furniture and materials to different buildings.

Employment Conditions

• Work schedule includes rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Must possess and maintain a valid USAREUR Driver's License.
• Work physically involves standing, stooping, bending, climbing, crawling, and kneeling for long durations in sometimes uncomfortable positions.
• Capability to lift weights up to 40 pounds frequently, and heavier items occasionally with help.
• Work environments range from indoors to outdoors with exposure to dust, dirt, and inclement weather.
• Possible exposure to injuries such as cuts, bruises, burns, or fractures due to use of ladders, tools, or vehicle operation.

Candidate Qualifications

• Effective English communication skills to perform duties safely and competently.
• Demonstrated experience with carpentry, painting, and maintenance tasks as described.
• Proficient in using hand and power tools, measuring devices, and interpreting basic blueprints and sketches.
• Knowledge of woodworking techniques and basic shop-level mathematics.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles safely.
• Preferred candidates hold at least one year of Army Lodging experience and two years working as a maintenance worker.
• Resumes must be concise (max two pages) and clearly reflect relevant competencies.

Additional Information

• The job location consideration area includes a 100 km (60 miles) radius around Grafenwöhr including Vilseck, Hohenfels, and Ansbach.
