Position Overview

The Registered Dietitian (RD) in the outpatient and day treatment Eating Disorders Program serves as a vital member of an interprofessional team, specializing in nutrition therapy for eating disorders. The RD delivers evidence-based nutrition care consistent with quality standards, gathers and analyzes patient data, conducts comprehensive nutrition assessments, and formulates nutrition diagnoses.

Collaborating closely with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, the RD sets priorities, develops strategies, and executes nutrition interventions aimed at achieving optimal health outcomes. The RD also systematically monitors and evaluates clinical progress.

As a core team member, the RD empowers patients and families through education and support to meet their treatment objectives. They also foster a safety culture by minimizing patient harm, supporting well-being of both patients and healthcare providers, preventing adverse events, and effectively communicating safety concerns.

Educational and Professional Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a Dietitians of Canada accredited 4-year university nutrition program or an equivalent qualification.
  • Successful completion of a dietetic internship accredited by EQUAL.
