Production Operator – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (Carlow)

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Production Operator to join the pharmaceutical manufacturing team based in Carlow. This role involves working on an 11-month contract with a remuneration of €18.29 per hour plus a 33.33% shift allowance. The position operates on a four-shift cycle comprising 12-hour shifts alternating between day (7am – 7pm) and night (7pm – 7am), arranged as five shifts one week and two the next.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise production processes and supporting machinery via MES/DCS and PLC systems, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and achieving production targets.
• Handle equipment such as parts washers, autoclaves, portable tank CIP/SIP/storage panels, vial washers, depyro tunnels, debaggers, and filling machines.
• Maintain stringent cleanroom cleaning protocols, housekeeping, and material handling across production zones, driving improvements through Lean methodologies.
• Oversee equipment flow management, including tracking soiled and clean hold times, labeling, and inventory control of clean/sterile equipment using Kanban systems and MES for quality control checks and expiry management.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on process equipment when qualified.
• Contribute to the creation, updating, and implementation of operational and training documentation for various Integrated Production Technology (IPT) systems.
• Engage actively in continuous improvement efforts via investigations, reports, change control initiatives, and root cause analyses using FMEA, Fishbone diagrams, and other standard problem-solving tools.

Qualifications and Skills

• Mandatory: Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational qualification.
• Preferred: Apprenticeship, Certificate, or Diploma in a relevant field.
• Experience with sterile filling procedures and related equipment is desirable.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and codes applicable to Irish, European, and international pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
• Competency in report writing, standards, and policy documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and industry-specific computer applications.
• Strong communication skills enabling effective collaboration with team members and external partners.
• Understanding of cross-departmental responsibilities and business processes linked to one’s department.
• Excellent time management, multitasking, attention to detail, and troubleshooting abilities.
