About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate individual to join our hospital team as a Porter. This role is crucial in supporting patients, transporting supplies, and assisting various departments to operate securely and efficiently. Your contribution will help ensure a positive and safe experience for patients throughout their hospital journey.

Working Hours

• Rotating shifts including 7am-3pm, 9am-5pm, and 11am-7pm
• Saturday shifts approximately once every three weeks

Key Responsibilities

• Safely escort and assist patients during admissions, theatre visits, diagnostics, and discharge processes
• Transport equipment, stock, medical records, and other necessary items across hospital departments
• Manage linen supplies by ordering, receiving, distributing, unloading deliveries, replenishing stock and collecting used linen
• Conduct specimen collections during the day
• Receive deliveries ensuring proper and secure storage of goods
• Adhere strictly to infection control, manual handling, health and safety, and data protection guidelines
• Support maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients and visitors
• Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and service development initiatives

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• Good educational background with solid literacy and numeracy abilities
• Experience in porter duties, facilities management, healthcare support, or customer service roles
• Strong communication skills with a courteous and professional demeanor
• Compassionate and respectful approach to patient care
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage varied workload priorities
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
• Flexible attitude, eager to learn and grow within the position
• Awareness of customer care standards, health and safety regulations, and confidentiality requirements in healthcare
