Position Overview

Penske Logistics is seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to lead and supervise drivers at its Coppell, Texas location. The individual will provide strategic leadership and operational management to consistently surpass performance goals, maintain commitment to customer satisfaction, and promote a culture of innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team by ensuring supervisors and associates are well-trained, competent, and aligned with customer business objectives.
  • Drive recruitment, training, development, and retention of high-quality associates.
  • Maintain effective two-way communication channels that motivate staff and recognize outstanding performance.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with associates, customers, and relevant departments to ensure operational alignment.
  • Ensure all customer key performance indicators and objectives are met or exceeded.

  • Identify operational opportunities such as route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, and trailer loading improvements.

  • Monitor operating metrics and financial statements, making timely adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer billing, payroll, payables, and intercompany charges.
  • Promote and lead a safety-first culture by example, including systematizing continuous improvements to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure associates understand their safety roles and proactively address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures related to workplace safety.

  • Track and quantify value delivered to customers and identify profitable business opportunities.
  • Optimize fleet and equipment utilization, maintenance, and fuel efficiency, and foster relationships with district and equipment vendors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant functional experience in transportation or logistics.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in DOT-regulated environments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with internal teams and external customers at all levels.
  • Effective time management, organizational skills, with strong follow-up and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in creating and executing financial operating plans.
  • Capability to drive change and lead process improvements.
  • Demonstrates accountability and urgency in managing operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and active listening.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Willingness to travel as required and adhere to background checks and drug screenings.
