Job Summary
This position supports the computer endpoint environment used in a Distribution Control Center in Staten Island, NY. The role focuses on keeping systems configured correctly, dependable, secure, and available for daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical administration support for endpoint systems used in the control center.
- Maintain system availability, performance, security, and resource usage to meet operational needs.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software.
- Carry out operating system and application updates, patches, and version upgrades.
- Track and resolve issues affecting system performance and network equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Support network security, access control, and backup/disaster recovery practices.
- Provide hands-on and remote troubleshooting for hardware and software issues faced by end users.
- Work with senior administrators, helpdesk staff, and other teams to resolve incidents and implement solutions.
- Control datacenter access, monitor UPS power and cooling systems, and report alarms or equipment issues.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair activities with external vendors.
- Create user accounts, email access, and permissions; assist with asset tracking and hardware retirement.
- Record system settings, procedures, incidents, and performance information in documentation and reports.
- Take part in disaster recovery exercises, security reviews, and vulnerability assessments.
- Assist with business relocations or changes and handle escalations through resolution.
- Evaluate new IT services and vendors with cost containment in mind.
- Work in DHCP and DNS environments and configure TCP/IP manually or through DHCP.
- Set and manage client expectations while supporting users in person and remotely.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be local, able to attend an in-person interview, and hold a valid driver’s license.
- A bachelor’s degree with 2 years of IT experience, or an associate degree/technical certification with 4 years of IT experience, is required.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server administration, PowerShell, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience imaging, preparing, and deploying desktop and laptop systems.
- Prior use of ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
- Good analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, organization, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Background in the utility or energy industry is an advantage.
- Cybersecurity certifications are preferred.
- Familiarity with networking basics is helpful.
