Financial Analyst - FP&A Expert (Remote, Part-Time)

Mercor is a company that connects top creative and technical professionals with prominent AI research institutions. Based in San Francisco and backed by notable investors, Mercor offers a contract role for a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Expert working remotely on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed annual budgets and multi-year long-term plans incorporating consolidation and approval workflows.
• Create updated rolling forecasts of profit and loss, cash flow, and key performance indicators aligned with actual results and revised drivers.
• Prepare headcount and capital expenditure plans, including hiring schedules, project authorizations, return on investment, and prioritization frameworks.
• Generate monthly management reports with variance analysis and profitability assessments across products, customers, or segments using cost allocation methods.
• Forecast revenue based on bookings, pipeline coverage, and demand factors while clearly documenting assumptions and underlying model drivers.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet timelines and continuously enhance financial planning processes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum four years of experience in FP&A within an operational company, with ownership over planning or reforecasting cycles.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel modeling combined with the capability to interpret and explain variances effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in finance business partnering or commercial finance roles.
• Exposure to financial planning software such as Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or Pigment.

Compensation and Terms

This is a contract position offering hourly pay ranging from $85 to $100. The location is fully remote.
