Position Overview
Based at the Pākākano office in Lincoln, Canterbury, you will join the Finance team and report directly to the Head of Reporting & Compliance. This key accounting position requires providing precise, compliant, and high-quality financial results across Oceania. Your contributions will cover statutory reporting, tax compliance, auditing assistance, technical accounting issues, financial presentations, asset and intercompany accounting, and consolidated group reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory financial statements for Oceania entities including Joint Ventures.
- Assist with annual audits ensuring timely and accurate information delivery.
- Prepare and review indirect tax returns such as GST, FBT, NRWT, and RWT for New Zealand entities.
- Support year-end tax computations, wash-ups, and tax disclosures.
- Provide assistance on international tax topics including Transfer Pricing, BEPS Pillar Two, and other cross-border tax considerations.
- Review Group and OneStream report submissions and key reconciliations.
- Conduct balance sheet examinations, focusing on high-risk and judgmental accounts.
- Oversee intercompany balance monitoring, transactions, and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate recognition, classification, and presentation of capital expenditures and asset accounting.
- Maintain IFRS16 lease reporting using the Nomos lease management system.
- Contribute to enhancing reporting processes, controls, and standards throughout Oceania.
Candidate Profile
Successful candidates will have a strong background in technical accounting, an eye for detail, and confidence working within a complex multi-entity environment. Managing deadlines effectively, producing quality reports, and engaging communicates clearly with varied stakeholders is essential.
Qualifications and Experience
- Professional Chartered Accountant or equivalent certification, preferably with several years of post-qualification experience in financial reporting and compliance.
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS, especially relating to asset accounting, leases, and tax matters.
- Prior experience with statutory reporting, audit support, and handling technical accounting tasks.
- Background working in multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional environments, ideally covering New Zealand and Australia.
- Understanding of international tax matters including Transfer Pricing and BEPS Pillar Two is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate trusted working relationships within Finance, Group teams, and operational units.
